Chiara Esposito is a character from The Blackout Club (game).
Description[ | ]
Not much is known about Chiara, but as implied in Journals from her older sibling Devin, she acts a bit strange. Devin has noted always feeling something is off about their sister.
In one of Devin's phone call transcripts, she is described as having a "smug-ass grin" when she refuses to tell Devin the whereabouts of their mother.[1] Devin earlier writes that they are "literally too sad to murder her," but threatens to tell their mother about Chiara's creepy behavior.[2] Devin describes Chiara as having been annoying for "11 thousand years,"[3] implying Devin and Chiara don't have the best relationship with each other.
According to a developer, Chiara is a "savant".[citation needed] She is fluent in the Old Tongue, but she never behaved like a child.[4]

Before the Game[ | ]
Little is known about Chiara's early life. She is currently the youngest Lucid. This is extremely unusual for her age, and SPEAK-AS-ONE explained her lucidity is unprecedented and that she was born with rare clarity. They hope to usher in more like her.[5]
Sometime during this time, Chiara's mother, Harper Esposito, skipped town, leaving her with just her father and older sibling. According to Devin, this is about the time they noticed Chiara acting very strangely.
In-Game[ | ]
According to Devin, Chiara may have stolen encrypted call signs from their cellphone, used to communicate to the Dead Skeptic as "friendly." Realizing this, Devin planned to warn the Dead Skeptic.[citation needed] It was also confirmed that she was Joel's radio contact from CHORUS that betrayed him, leading to his suicide[citation needed] and earning Grandmother's ire.[citation needed] Dead Skeptic assumed Chiara had a hand in jamming their drone relay signal.[6] They were able to work out where Chiara was broadcasting from, in thanks to warnings that they received about her being in their comms. Even though Chiara got a lot of info, they assure they won’t be duped by her again.
The Dead Skeptic followed Chiara with a drone and were able to overhear a little from her before the drone was lost. They learned that the eastern agents that SPEAK-AS-ONE is calling back are coming to watch the anointing or crowning ceremony of the new Voice. They have chosen one of the pair, but they are looking for the second pair amongst kids the Club's age. Chiara was not chosen to be a part of the Voice, despite her wanting to be.[7]
In regards to why Chiara wasn't chosen, SPEAK-AS-ONE saw her as a risk that the Song could not endure. Her cognitive ability was unprecedented, but she manifested “habits”, an extreme interest in the pain of others, as well as her own. She had many abilities, but no restraint. They offered her an alternative privilege, but she has since gone missing. Due to her absence, they are unsure if she will accept it anymore.[4]
After Devin went missing, Gwen visited their house at 918 Hoadly and confirmed that Chiara had not been home in several nights either. According to her, there are rumors that Chiara “concerns the adults” somehow. She says Chiara is worse than most Lucids, since even Lucids seem to struggle with guilt sometimes.[8]
In an attempt to gain favor with HUNT-THE-STRONG, Chiara had begun hunting Devin, trying to capture them. In the process, she stole a horse and aided Lenka Staneck, a host of HUNT-THE-STRONG, in killing one of LAUGH-LAST's hosts at the Townsend Motel. Due to Chiara's gifts with Old Tongue, she was able to captivate a group of club members by singing in two tones. Overtone singing allowed Chiara to enact preloaded Old Tongue commands. Chiara was also able to control two young men, forcing them to attack the club members. Despite her abilities, Chiara was captured. Devin planned to take her back home, where their dad would keep track of her.[9]

- Aside from the ominous "I'M 11 NOW!" poster that resembles SPEAK-AS-ONE's symbol, there is a poster of an owl in Chiara's bedroom. SPEAK-AS-ONE's followers are sometimes referred to as owls by developers.[10].
