Purpose

Transcripts can be shared directly in the TBC Wiki in Player Interactions when submitting interactions through the Player Interactions form. This allows players to read though the experience in full without having details summarized or to assist users watching/listening to an interaction recording.

Format

Actions

If the player does something or says something in a way that needs to be described differently with an adjective, these actions can be noted in the transcript to better describe the events of the interaction. These should be used relatively sparingly. When adding actions, surround the action in parentheses (...) and italicize the parentheses and text. Place these actions in the sentence where the action occurs.

Examples:

(giggles) 8 months apparently! (chuckles)

Notes and Event Details

It's often important to include details and information in the transcript that are not said by either the players or characters to explain the events of the interaction. These notes should be used relatively sparingly. When adding notes, they should be italicize and indenting with the use of a colon : at the start of the line to offset it from regular text.

Example (with colons):

MrMusicMan789 is playing a solo mission. Video starts in #1005 Hoadly Ave
Objective changes to “Everything is Fine”

Player Speaking

When the player is speaking, state their name followed by a colon, both in bold. After a space, start their quote without quotation marks. Abbreviations can be used if it is clear the acronym is for the particular player.

Example:

MrMusicMan789: Hm, I don’t quite know. Every time I sorta start to develop a theory, uh, things get complicated.
...
MMM789: Yeah, as we’ve often seen so far, in trying to figure out what’s going on. Lots of uh… directions, and splintered paths.

Voice Speaking

When speaking with a Voice, state their full name followed by a colon, both in bold. After a space, start their quote without quotation marks. Abbreviations can be used if they are the standard abbreviation for the Voice, e.g. "SAO" for SPEAK-AS-ONE, "TID", "TMC", "IHT", "DFU", etc. You can find the common acronym for each Voice on their respective page. The Voice's quote should be written IN CAPS.

Example:

THE-MEASURE-CUTS: SUBJECT MAN.
...
TMC: I MUST GO. AND YOU MUST AWAKE.

Character Speaking

When speaking with other non-Voice characters like the Unknown Caller, state their full name followed by a colon, both in bold. After a space, start their quote without quotation marks. Abbreviations can be used if they are the standard abbreviation for the character, e.g. "UC" for the Unknown Caller. The character's quote should be kept in the same case as their message, by default assuming Sentence case.

Example:

Unknown Caller: The room. So you know. The voice in your head won’t mind? You wouldn’t want to offend them.
MMM789: I don’t think the Voices will mind. It is my mind, after all.
Unknown Caller: For now.

Example

This is a small example combining all the aspects listed for formatting transcripts.

MMM789: Let’s begin.
TMC: COME AWAY.

MMM789 is transported to the surface of the “Moon”

MMM789: Ahhh… (chuckles) I like what you’ve done with the place. (chuckles, then begins inspecting the pillars)
TMC: IF IT EVEN IS, A PLACE…
